Drug Case
A 21-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after admitting to drug dealing. After struggling to find a full-time job following secondary school, he turned to selling hashish and unregulated CBD oil to fund his own addiction. Using “dead drop” locations, he would leave drugs for buyers in exchange for BD2 per sale. What started as a way to cope quickly turned into a criminal operation and ended with a decade behind bars.

New Defender
HM King Hamad has appointed HH Brigadier General Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the Supreme Defence Council, one of Bahrain’s top bodies for national security. Currently Commander of Special Operations in the Royal Guard, he brings hands-on field experience to a council that shapes defence strategy and oversees the Kingdom’s security.

Digital Food Trucks
Bahrain is introducing a new online system for booking and licensing food trucks. Fixed spots will be set across all areas, and owners will be able to reserve them online. The goal is to make things more organised, but many food truck owners prefer the freedom to move around and test different locations so this change may not suit everyone.
