Passport Laws
Holding onto someone’s passport has long been a grey area. Now, Bahrain’s Parliament is set to vote on a new law that could change that. The proposal includes BD500 fines and formally recognises the term “Domestic Workers,” aiming to better protect expats and align with international standards. While government bodies support the bill, some MPs believe existing laws already do the job.

Fatal Crash
A 20-year-old Bahraini has been sentenced to three years in prison after causing a fatal head-on collision while driving under the influence. The court heard he had consumed one-and-a-half bottles of alcohol before driving into the opposite lane. He was convicted of vehicular manslaughter, DUI, property damage, and several related charges.

Housing Push
The government has rolled out plans to approve long-standing housing applications and deliver 50,000 new homes for citizens. New financing options are being introduced, while citizens can now track their applications online, with clearer rules on eligibility and rejections.
